Jimmy and Tang's Restaurant

Naga City - Are you a buffet kind of person? If you are, Jimmy & Tang's Restaurant is so right for you that it will surely satisfy your cravings for home cooked meals. Everyday buffet can be gluttonous but a weekend buffet is something to look forward to. Jimmy & Tang's is located inside The Sison's compound along Liboton Street. It's not a generic daily kind of buffet thus making your weekend full of surprises.

One Saturday lunch, we were very fortunate to be welcomed by the home cooked dishes of Jimmy & Tang's. From appetizers, soup, pork, chicken, fish, seafood, Bicolano dishes, dessert, Naga's original Kinalas and a whole lot more. Everything is served fresh and hot.

They say buffet's should be well planned in order for you to try and taste everything on the table. Well yes, with the numerous dishes served by this restaurant, you should really come hungry. For starters, soup served was Halaan and Papaitan. The last time I ate an authentic papaitan cooked by an Ilocano was in San Felipe, Zambales and my last visit to my relatives in Banna, Ilocos Norte. The Papaitan of Jimmy & Tang's? Well, it's good enough, that at least you'll get a glimpse of how this Ilocano dish really taste like. The restaurant has a strong foundation when it comes to home cooked dishes, remember Aling Conching's Restaurant located along the Diverson Road? They are the same people behind that resto. And oh they also have the Tabagwang fondly called "Lips to Lips" by many, a snail found in rice fields and usually cooked in gata.

Halaan and Papaitan

Bopis or Kandinga will always be a personal favorite. Commonly sold in carinderias, the Bopis of Jimmy and Tang's is for the win!
Dinuguan was served in two types. One with the lamang loob and the other with pure meat only.

Callos and Bicol Express
The Callos was really tasty! In my opinion, it's the best in Naga! I heard that Jimmy and Tang's also serves one of the best Kare-Kare in the city, but sadly it was not available during our visit. The owners, Sir Jimmy and Ma'am Tang sees to it that you are being served well during your stay in the resto.

Nachos

The caramel bars are just so yummy!! And look! They have Ice Scramble!

Kinalas! A buffet with Kinalas! This may be not be available during weekend buffets, lucky you if you they have one during your visit. They also have barbecue both pork and chicken. The calamares and fried shrimps are cooked fresh outside upon order, making sure they're fresh and crispy.

You can also visit the restaurant during regular days, dishes usually ranges from P60 to P250. Your weekends will be more special because of the restaurant's Weekend Buffet for only PhP 350.00 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Jimmy and Tang's also do catering services and accepts reservations for big groups during special gatherings.

Graceland Naga Centro

Naga City - For us Nagueños, Graceland means home, it means Naga. Graceland played a huge role in Naga's food industry dating back in the 70's. Graceland is Graceland Food Industries Inc.'s "First Born" from among the other successful brands like Baker's Plaza, Geewan and Red Platter.

From the humble beginnings of a four-tabled "turo-turo" garage operation, Graceland Food Industries is now one of Bicol's Best Brands. Started by Mr. Felipe Dy Eng Chong, a multi-awarded pioneer in the fast-food industry, also a recipient of the prestigious Halyao Awards for Camarines Sur in 2011 by the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Halyao Awards is the most reputable regional annual award given to Bicolano businesspersons/entrepreneurs whose outstanding and exemplary achievements lie not only in their entrepreneurial pursuits but more so in their contribution to the growth and development of the Bicol Region and its people. Commonly referred to as “Tyo Peping”, Mr. Felipe and his wife, Mrs. Felicidad Dy started their food business way back in 1976 using a loaned capital of just ten thousand pesos. Read more about Graceland's legacy, through this link.

Long before Jollibee and McDonald's landed in Bicol soil, Graceland was our fast-food restaurant to go to. Those in their early 30's and late 40's are familiar with that building (photo on top) along General Luna St. For quite a time, this has been the cry of Naga's children because of the rides available in the store. Did you have your birthday party here? As of writing, this lot beside PNB is now a parking space for the company's delivery trucks.

Graceland is a time-tested company which has grown into various brands that Bicolanos love. Last June, the newest branch of Graceland recently opened along Elias Angeles St. just right beside Nagaland E-mall. This branch by far has the most beautiful interiors from among the existing branches. The store is surrounded with motivational quotes framed in various sizes and also with artificial fruits in frames that will surely delight your senses because of its uniqueness. Lighting of the store is very cozy with different kinds of fixtures.

Though Graceland may be categorized as a fast-food, many can attest that the meals available Graceland is not really a "fast-food" type because of the good quality of food that they are serving. For those visiting Naga, Graceland can be likened to Goldilocks or Red Ribbon because of the in-house Baker's Plaza, one of Bicol's finest source of bread, pastries and cakes.

Graceland has many best sellers. Try the "So Bicol" meals, all paired with a Bicol specialty like Laing, Bicol Express or Pinangat. Though Geewan along P. Burgos Street, has been established as a tourist destination for Bicol Specialties, the "So Bicol" meals of Graceland are equally competitive to other restaurants.

Graceland is also very ideal for family and friends dining together. Salo meals like the Pancit Guisado is very  affordable and is good enough for 2 to 3 persons. Lomi, Halo-Halo and the Special Sizzlers (esp the Sisig with Egg) would be my personal favorites. Don't forget a slice of Concorde Cake or any other cake for that matter for your dessert or perhaps a cup of Chocolate Mousse.

And by the way, burgers might be ordinary but Graceland's Burger and Fries are definitely tasty and it does not have that "fast-food" aura.

Even when you go to the comfort room you will be reminded to just "follow your dreams".

Baker's Plaza goodies is a staple food in almost every Graceland store. Freshly baked cookies, bread, cakes and many other pastries for your daily consumption or special occasions. Baker's Plaza has been and is always reliable for all of us here in Bicol.

Other Graceland stores in Naga: Ground Level of SM City Naga and a few of their specialties are also served at the main branch of Baker's Plaza along P. Burgos Street.

LG's flagship phone will help me a lot in covering the live updates of the upcoming Peñafrancia Festival in the Heart of Bicolandia, Naga City this September. I will be needing more space and battery life for the photos and videos that I will be sharing to my almost 20k fans on Facebook, 2k on Instagram and 1k on Twitter. Aside from Naga City Deck on FB, I am also maintaining another page the Ciudad nin Naga: An Maogmang Lugar and Magsaysay Avenue with 13k and 5k fans respectively. All these for the love of Naga and Bicol. I have a day job but blogging about my hometown has been very uplifting on my end even though I am using a screen name. Earning the trust of my fellow Nagueños and Bicolanos online thru my blog www.nagacitydeck.com has been very rewarding. The passion and greatness of my city will surely be more beautiful thru the lens of the new LG G4. I hope I win! I lift everything to God! I hope I am worthy of the new LG G4.

Glam Theme Boutique Naga

Naga City - Time and time again, it seems like the glory days of boutique shops in Naga is indeed being glamorous. I can still remember when other boutiques in Naga such as Parklane, Ambershoppe, Annelle's, Esdici (first three are still into business) were the only boutiques that we can find here in our city. Just this year, I have already featured two boutiques both of which are trusted online sellers.

*Update April 2016. Glam Theme Boutique now has an in-house cafe, the Cafe '91. CLICK HERE for the full review.

Walk to Glam Theme Boutique. Situated at the entertainment and dining strip of Magsaysay Avenue, Glam Theme Boutique opened its doors to Nagueños just right infront of Tapsi Terminal and just last February 2016, Cafe 91 opened as its in-house cafe. Imagine just having your dinner or late afternoon snack along Magsaysay, a perfect way to burn the calories is to walk along Magsaysay and visit this boutique.

Trusted Online Shops. Headed by Bonita Y Elegante along with the following trusted online shops. Variety Shop Love, Phi n Piks, The Basiq Clothing, Mirage by Dannalee, Plethora, Saphira, La Belle Fille Shoppe plus the latest addition to the GTB Naga is Albay Online Shop.

Quality and affordability. Most of the items are very affordable that both men and ladies will really appreciate. Even young professionals will be able to find something in this shop, because they offer the rugged, to casual and office-type of clothes (and everything in between).

I so love this pencil cut skirt from Plethora. Very appropriate for my day job and other casual gatherings.

I though a pleated midi skirt would not look good on me, but when my officemates gave me good complements about it, then I know I was not wrong in choosing it. The skirt is available from Saphira also available in Glam Theme Boutique.

So there, I have two favorite skirts now added to my cabinet and I must say the quality is really awesome. There you go guys, grab your own tops, skirts, shirts, and whatnots at Glam Theme Boutique Naga and be glamorous as you can be!

Thank you very much Ms. Mutya for the invitation and more power to the Glam Theme Boutique Team!

Phil Cafe Naga

Naga City - Dominant in black, white and mint green color, a new coffee shop recently brewed just right in front of Super Metro Gaisano called Phil Cafe. Named after the owner Philip Julius O. Julia, the coffee shop mainly focuses on providing a healthier coffee alternative to "coffeeholics" in the city.

"Don't panic, it's organic". Written on the black painted bricks inside the shop is the core and essence of the cafe. Phil Cafe uses organic coffee that is, Organo Gold as the base coffee.

Experience the Healthier Coffee and Tea at Phil Cafe
Hot drinks starts at P45 to P60.  Cold Frappe Drinks starts at P75 to P120. Tea is only for P60.

About Organo Gold. "Regarded by the Chinese as the “King of Herbs” or the Miracle Herb” because of its ability to help improve the body’s healing capacity and longevity, Ganoderma Lucidum is a medicinal mushroom with a number of natural health-benefits. Ganoderma Lucidum, once reserved for “ROYALTY”, enjoys an honourable place in Asia, where it has been used as a medicinal mushroom in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 4,000 years. The scientific name “Ganoderma” is derived from the Ancient Greek   ”bright shiny skin”.  The word “Lingzhi”, in Chinese, means “herb of spiritual potency” and has also been described as “mushroom of immortality”. Read more at https://msocoffee.wordpress.com/ganoderma-benefits/

Guilt-free coffee. There are many health benefits of the Miraculous King of Herbs. To name a few are: It provides more energy and vigor, boosts stamina, clears skin, natural detoxification, improves mental alertness and many more.  Health benefits of Ganoderma Lucidum is also good for weight loss, reduces cholesterol levels, anti-aging and has immune boosting properties, it also helps prevent and fight cancer.

My personal favorite would be the Double Choco. It has a distinct taste from among the different coffee shops I've tried both from the local and international brands. It's not that sweet but not too dark but still "chocolatey". But don't get me wrong, it's still different with mocha, so you have to try it and taste the difference.

Take your coffee while on a high chair when you're inside Phil Cafe. This actually makes Phil Cafe unique from other coffee shops. There are a lot of chairs on the side of the cafe just in case it's full house inside.

Black and white artworks. Plus, there's a huge mirror towards the end of the coffee shop where you and your friends can take your want-to-sawa selfies or groufies.

Pastries in Phil Cafe is something you would want to look forward to especially if you're a fan of Krispy Kreme and J. Co Donuts. Since both of these brands are not yet here in Naga, Phil Cafe will be our source for the meantime, but I guess it will by piece and not by dozen.

They also have Red Velvet Cupcakes and Red Velvet Whoopie Pies baked by the first lady of our city, Mdm. Farah Bongat.

Other pastries available are Strawberry and Blueberry Muffins and the Ombre Cake from Jaella's Cupcake and Factory.

If you are  very conscious of your caffeine intake, you might want to visit Phil Cafe along Panganiban Drive. If you're going to Naga's centro, you'll see a huge billboard on the left where it says Phil Cafe and I'm sure you won't get lost. Experience the healthier coffee and "get Phil'd in".
