UNC High School Celebrates United Nations Day

In every school these days students would often ask for their parents specifically their moms to prepare them a costume. No matter how costly it would take them, a lot of parents are supportive with this kind of extra curricular activity in schools. October, we celebrate the United Nations Day in order to remind ourselves that we are not alone in this planet. From the background of UN which says "Simply put, it is the birthday of the United Nations. On 24 October 1945, the United Nations was formally established after a majority of its founding members ratified a treaty setting up the world body. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution recommending that the day be observed as a public holiday by Member States. Traditionally, it has been marked throughout the world by meetings, discussions and exhibits on the goals and achievements of the Organization." (http://www.un.org/) the spirit of voluntarism and genuine concern for those who are in need is very visible. Let us all be reminded of the true essence of altruism for a more unified nation.

UNC High School students take pride as they parade around the campus grounds last October 27, 2009 in their various costumes representing different nationalities.
