Review: The Korea House by Kim's Han Guk Kwan Korean Restaurant

Naga City - The fourth Korean resto has just opened its doors along Alemeda Highway to Naguenos. They might be the latest one to open but I can personally say that they will now top my list when it comes to Korean Food.

The Korea House by Kim's Han Guk Kwan Korean Restaurant found at KJA Hotel in Alemeda Highway is now one with the Korea House Buffet in Caimito St. Corner Del Pilar St. Dayangdang, Naga City (effective July 23, 2018). For Buffet pics and details CLICK HERE

To compare, their price is somehow near Manna and Koreano Resto. Some dishes might be higher than the two other restaurants but driving to Almeda Highway and paying a little extra for the food is ALL WORTH IT. Now let me tell you why.

I love their Tofu Soup! I love mushrooms too! And look, you'll also have fun with the tissue, watch the magic happen. lol

Ingredients are FRESH! Twice a week there's a delivery from Manila of some of the veggies that are not available here in Naga like the Kutsai / Kuchai. The Kutsai is one of the side dishes and main ingredient in the fish pancake (center plate) as well as in the soup that we also ate. I might be getting old that I appreciate food now with less or even no preservatives, that's why I really love this new restaurant.

LEGIT and AUTHENTIC! Mr. Kim is very accommodating and entertaining, he will even shares the benefits of eating this and that plus adding up  a little more Korean food culture. And oh btw, the couple, Mr. Kim (legit Korean) and Bicolana wife Ma'am. Zhette, are so nice that it adds color to the restaurant, its a plus point actually. If they are not busy, you might be lucky that both of them might be personally assisting you to the point of teaching you how to eat like a Korean. Mr. Kim taught us how to prepare the Samgyeopsal  and it was so fun learning first hand from a real Korean.

K-drama fans rejoice! Yeah they have it here as well.
Shabushabu costs P600 per person. Here's why I wouldn't mind paying for that price. Almost all side dishes are personally prepared by the owners, take note, not bought in groceries. Loved the Korean Cucumber, Dilis, Kutsai, Singkamas ahhh almost everything! Everything is fresh and healthy!

Here are some of their food and they still have more on the menu:
Haemul Ramyun at P180
Tteokbokki P250
Galmaegisal P350
Samgyeopsal P300
Samgyeopsal with seafood P350
Bibim Bap P200
Sundubu-jjigae P250
Japchae P250
Ramyun (spicy or mild spicy) P150
Fried Chicken Half P350

This soup was served after our meal. No seasonings were added, making it healthy and it somehow acts like a "pang tanggal umay" after a full meal. But if you feel like adding a few seasoning, you may, or better yet just add some of the side dishes that will complement the taste of the veggies. The mushrooms are for the win!

I just found out that even in Korea, they also have this practice of drinking coffee after having meals. Don't you just love it here?!

Fact: We never drank water the whole duration of our dinner (only after drinking coffee), according to my friend and I quote "Yung parang ayaw mo muna matanggal ung flavor sa mouth mo". But yeah seriously, we only realized that hey"dai pa kita nag iinom tubig oh!" after we were done eating. I think its because the freshness of the ingredients plus the manner of preparation that makes the food more to eat.

Don't ever be shy in asking questions from the owner on how to eat Korean food. You'll learn a lot from the very nice owners and at the same time, they will make you feel at home. You'll never get intimidated because they will let the food communicate to you. All these experiences from this restaurant, I am willing to come back and back for more.

Global Cuisine at Global Kitchen

Naga City - Located along one of the main arterial road of the city, Panganiban Drive, houses a restaurant that caters to global creativity when it comes to cuisines. Starting off with Asian food, this restaurant called Global Kitchen  may relive your Asian journey especially the jet-setters.

Global Kitchen is located beside Lucky 9 Panganiban

The place has this minimalist interior when it comes to design and structure. The only thing noticeable with Global Kitchen is perhaps the bamboo wall perfect for photo opps and in our case as bloggers, for our ootd.

Global Kitchen started with the Asian cuisine. Known for its various spices and flavors, Global Kitchen by Roanda Restaurant has enough culinary experience when it comes to Asian dishes. Sooner or later, Global Kitchen will be living up to their name offering other types of cuisines there is around the world.

Starting off with the Tom Yum, this is a Thai cuisine normally with shrimp or prawn with cilantro and Tom Yum paste or probably a ready Tom Yum spice mix. It has  a tangy taste, a bit sour and spicy

I loved the Malaysian Laksa! Served according to your spiciness level, you can request it to be mild, hot and extremely hot level which is normal for the Malaysian Laksa. Served with puffy fried tofu, bean sprouts (toge) and an exploding taste of spices of the Laksa paste.

Another personal favorite is the Pad Thai. Basically with stir fried noodles with vegetables, peanuts or peanut oil and a lime wedge. Global Kitchen's Pad Thai has a beautiful plating. I'm not sure what this blanket is made of but it tastes like egg.

The Hainanese Chicken has this unique broiled/ steamed chicken with three different kinds of garnishes/sauce perfect with a hot steaming rice.

Stir-Fried Vegetable and Tofu is like the oriental chopsuey. Perfect for the diet conscious and vegetarians.

These Asian cuisines are just an introduction for Global Kitchen. Pretty sure there are more to explore on the menu of this restaurant. If you're not sure on what to order, don't hesitate to ask questions to the crew. It's always fun to explore new types of dishes. I just love the various spices in this restaurant.

Global Kitchen now offers desserts and pastries, other Asian Cuisines and various Filipino dishes. Perhaps another visit to this restaurant is now a must. Thank you Global Kitchen, for accommodating the Bicol Bloggers during our First Year Anniversary celebration. The food is absolutely amazing!

Dig Some Dimsums at The Crown Park Restaurant

Naga City - The Crown Park Restaurant favorites just keeps adding and adding more Asian cuisines to their menu. Just looking back at my previous post about Cafe Federico and The Park makes me admire how the food industry in Naga is flourishing. Naga may have passed by the stage of being a growing food destination. I think Naga has arrived to be a food destination here in Bicol because of the wide selection of restaurants catering to different palates of customers, local or foreign.

Buchi Buchi and Bola Bola Siopao for P100.
Ball game. The Buchi-Buchi is surprisingly competitive with other Buchis out in the market. Even our Social Media Influencer @yvetteducut was able to taste one and surprisingly she liked it. According to Yvette she doesn't really eat Buchi even though it's readily sold in a fast food chain.

Empress Siomai (left) at P90 and Japanese Siomai (right) at P140.
Not your regular siomai but definitely it is worth your every cent.

This Empress Siomai is MUST TRY. I absolutely love the sauce that comes along with it when served.

Spring Roll Vegetable for only P150. The slices are actually big and it comes in six. The roll is dense with vegetables and herb. Not bad for P150 for sharing.

Another MUST TRY, the Crown Fried Dumpling for P180 and comes in twelves. I must say this is very distinctive from the other regular siomais.

Together with the Bicol Bloggers, we all had these dimsums for snack but it felt like it was dinner. As of writing, these new dishes are only available at the Crown Park's branch at the New Crown Hotel in downtown Naga. Hopefully they can also serve this at the SM City Naga branch. These new goodies are really affordable. So what are you waiting for dig some dimsums at the Crown Park Restaurant now!

Oops! Wait! I just had to post this because this is an all time favorite of the restaurant, Beef Brisket partnered with Hung Ma Bread. For other delectable Chinese cuisines, visit my previous blog post HERE.
