foodpanda Riders Left Work to Help Affected Families

The first month of 2020 just ended and we have been through so much, not only here in the Philippines, but worldwide. A test of resiliency for us Filipinos took place like when Taal Volcano erupted this January and when a typhoon pass hit Tacloban during the last quarter of 2019.

When calamity strikes, it interrupts plans - dinner plans, travel plans, career plans, marriage plans, family plans, 5 to 10-year plans, and life plans.  foodpanda, one of Ph's biggest food delivery service went out the extra mile in helping our fellow Filipinos. For a few hours in Tagaytay and also in Tacloban, foodpanda riders interrupted their schedule to bring affected families, from the recent typhoon and volcanic eruption, companionship, and good food to everyone in the area and created a Global Soup Kitchen.

Global Soup Kitchen aims to help families and children by bringing smiles to these affected people through the warmth of food. Over the last two years, foodpanda partnered with different orphanages and communities in Manila, Cavite, and Cebu to bring warm meals to more than 1,000 special children. Given the recent calamities, foodpanda riders continue to extend its reach to more people in Tagaytay and Tacloban. Warm meals, warms the tummy and the heart. A sparkle of hope lights up as foodpanda becomes one of the answered prayers by affected families.

In the recent activities headed by the foodpanda heroes, the riders were able to deliver love and food to a total of 300 families and 1,200 evacuees in Tacloban and Tagaytay.

As a food delivery service, foodpanda is set to continue to make food more accessible, especially to the less fortunate and victims of calamity through the Global Soup Kitchen. With each success it has, the company will continue to give back, and bring its mission of giving good food to everyone as plans is still waiting to happen for these people.

#NCDFoodtrip: Burb Belly

#NCDfoodtrip: When was the last time you got surprised by a random restaurant without knowing what they actually offer? Stumbled upon BURP BELLY last week and this BISTEK BULALO (P295) got me wowed! 😱Probably it’s the bone marrow that is the sought after ingredient of this dish but I love that they used French Beans here too 😍 Sulit serving size (can be good for 2 to 3 people) and the taste is oh so good!

They also attempted to have a SIZZLING TOFU (P159) on their menu which is my personal favorite in Max’s restaurant. With these two dishes that I have initially tried, I’m hoping that the rest will be equally burp-worthy.🙂

Belly B’s by Burp Belly also serves All-Day Breakfast (starts at P129), Appetizers (P149 ⬆️), Sinigang na Bagnet (P329)Sizzlers (P159⬆️), Main Dishes (P279⬆️), Sandwiches (P185⬆️), Pasta (P149⬆️). All of which are I presumed to be good for sharing.

#NCDFoodtrip: Caffe Primo, an uptown cafe in Naga City

A drive to uptown Naga is always a treat. The turns and fine concrete road with the fresh air coming in through your car's window is something that you can not get from the downtown area. A dip in the hot or cold waters of Isarog always come to mind when we travel to this side of Naga. Now, there is a cafe worthy of your drive away from the city's bright lights and noise which is located inside Caceres Heights Subdivision called Caffe Primo. According to their page it is an Italian inspired Caffe sure to give guests a much needed break from Naga City’s busy environment.

Caffe Primo has the feels of a slow vibe. Much to be noticed is also a casual to a semi fine dining feels being part of the Primus Hotel & Resort. Right after we had a dip at Panicuason Hot Spring, I decided to check out the place since we were in the area.

I always ask restaurants about their best sellers, Pizza is one in Caffe Primo, I believe. This is the All Meat Pizza, I was expecting an all-meat loaded pizza but hey I love veggies so I'm not complaining. It actually tasted good!

We ordered Caramel Machiatto and Salted Caramel Latte, Cafe Americano and a Java Chip Frappe. I loved their hot drinks, the Java Chip was so-so, but hopefully the other frappes are good. One thing I learned in cafes, it's difficult to have a drink or food inspired from famous brands. It's either you get it right or you totally flunk.

Here's the price range of Caffe Primus menu:
Salad 150 - 220
Pasta 230 - 260
Pizza 450 - 480
Sandwiches 125 - 250
Burgers 220 - 260
Desserts 110 - 180
Hot Beverages 95 - 175
Iced Beverages 100 - 160
Frappe 145 - 180
Juice 140 - 160
Tea Beverages 95 - 140

They also included in one menu the restaurant of the Resort Hotel, I just forgot the name of the resto.

Was expecting the frappe to be in a fancy glass, perhaps this is what they really opted to use even in dine-ins

We sat near the windows overlooking the pool. Hoping to come back soon and I can't wait to try the other food and drinks. Ambiance is a so nice and the baristas who are VERY COURTEOUS tops it all! Even my mom noticed it so it's really a plus plus point.

I believe the tranquility of the place is the purpose of this cafe together with the food that you can actually enjoy with your friends and family. Caffe Primo is also for solitary pursuits and the food and drinks that you can order is already a good company. Looking forward to my next visit at Caffe Primo! Don't forget to share your favorites!

#NCDFoodtrip: Take Me Out Snack Bar and Grill

Night outs are not anymore about the booze, but more about the good food shared with your friends or family and the endless stories that keeps the company alive. Plus, I’m actually trying to avoid the hassle of parking, huge crowds and loud places. Take Me Out Snack Bar & Grill can definitely deliver and hits the spot! They were formerly located along Magsaysay Avenue where I never had the chance to dine because of the limited parking space. This time that they are now located at M. Plaza along Roxas Avenue (Diversion Road), this spot is becoming a regular option for me and my friends. Obvious landmark you can actually see is BDO Diversion, at the back of that is Take Me Out.

Take Me Out is known for their burgers and tacos. They also serve pasta and other TMO favorites.

Going to places with huge crowds with very loud music is not any more my game.  Is it just me or I’m feeling old already? haha

Review: The Korea House by Kim's Han Guk Kwan Korean Restaurant

Naga City - The fourth Korean resto has just opened its doors along Alemeda Highway to Naguenos. They might be the latest one to open but I can personally say that they will now top my list when it comes to Korean Food.

The Korea House by Kim's Han Guk Kwan Korean Restaurant found at KJA Hotel in Alemeda Highway is now one with the Korea House Buffet in Caimito St. Corner Del Pilar St. Dayangdang, Naga City (effective July 23, 2018). For Buffet pics and details CLICK HERE

To compare, their price is somehow near Manna and Koreano Resto. Some dishes might be higher than the two other restaurants but driving to Almeda Highway and paying a little extra for the food is ALL WORTH IT. Now let me tell you why.

I love their Tofu Soup! I love mushrooms too! And look, you'll also have fun with the tissue, watch the magic happen. lol

Ingredients are FRESH! Twice a week there's a delivery from Manila of some of the veggies that are not available here in Naga like the Kutsai / Kuchai. The Kutsai is one of the side dishes and main ingredient in the fish pancake (center plate) as well as in the soup that we also ate. I might be getting old that I appreciate food now with less or even no preservatives, that's why I really love this new restaurant.

LEGIT and AUTHENTIC! Mr. Kim is very accommodating and entertaining, he will even shares the benefits of eating this and that plus adding up  a little more Korean food culture. And oh btw, the couple, Mr. Kim (legit Korean) and Bicolana wife Ma'am. Zhette, are so nice that it adds color to the restaurant, its a plus point actually. If they are not busy, you might be lucky that both of them might be personally assisting you to the point of teaching you how to eat like a Korean. Mr. Kim taught us how to prepare the Samgyeopsal  and it was so fun learning first hand from a real Korean.

K-drama fans rejoice! Yeah they have it here as well.
Shabushabu costs P600 per person. Here's why I wouldn't mind paying for that price. Almost all side dishes are personally prepared by the owners, take note, not bought in groceries. Loved the Korean Cucumber, Dilis, Kutsai, Singkamas ahhh almost everything! Everything is fresh and healthy!

Here are some of their food and they still have more on the menu:
Haemul Ramyun at P180
Tteokbokki P250
Galmaegisal P350
Samgyeopsal P300
Samgyeopsal with seafood P350
Bibim Bap P200
Sundubu-jjigae P250
Japchae P250
Ramyun (spicy or mild spicy) P150
Fried Chicken Half P350

This soup was served after our meal. No seasonings were added, making it healthy and it somehow acts like a "pang tanggal umay" after a full meal. But if you feel like adding a few seasoning, you may, or better yet just add some of the side dishes that will complement the taste of the veggies. The mushrooms are for the win!

I just found out that even in Korea, they also have this practice of drinking coffee after having meals. Don't you just love it here?!

Fact: We never drank water the whole duration of our dinner (only after drinking coffee), according to my friend and I quote "Yung parang ayaw mo muna matanggal ung flavor sa mouth mo". But yeah seriously, we only realized that hey"dai pa kita nag iinom tubig oh!" after we were done eating. I think its because the freshness of the ingredients plus the manner of preparation that makes the food more to eat.

Don't ever be shy in asking questions from the owner on how to eat Korean food. You'll learn a lot from the very nice owners and at the same time, they will make you feel at home. You'll never get intimidated because they will let the food communicate to you. All these experiences from this restaurant, I am willing to come back and back for more.
