foodpanda Riders Left Work to Help Affected Families

The first month of 2020 just ended and we have been through so much, not only here in the Philippines, but worldwide. A test of resiliency for us Filipinos took place like when Taal Volcano erupted this January and when a typhoon pass hit Tacloban during the last quarter of 2019.

When calamity strikes, it interrupts plans - dinner plans, travel plans, career plans, marriage plans, family plans, 5 to 10-year plans, and life plans.  foodpanda, one of Ph's biggest food delivery service went out the extra mile in helping our fellow Filipinos. For a few hours in Tagaytay and also in Tacloban, foodpanda riders interrupted their schedule to bring affected families, from the recent typhoon and volcanic eruption, companionship, and good food to everyone in the area and created a Global Soup Kitchen.

Global Soup Kitchen aims to help families and children by bringing smiles to these affected people through the warmth of food. Over the last two years, foodpanda partnered with different orphanages and communities in Manila, Cavite, and Cebu to bring warm meals to more than 1,000 special children. Given the recent calamities, foodpanda riders continue to extend its reach to more people in Tagaytay and Tacloban. Warm meals, warms the tummy and the heart. A sparkle of hope lights up as foodpanda becomes one of the answered prayers by affected families.

In the recent activities headed by the foodpanda heroes, the riders were able to deliver love and food to a total of 300 families and 1,200 evacuees in Tacloban and Tagaytay.

As a food delivery service, foodpanda is set to continue to make food more accessible, especially to the less fortunate and victims of calamity through the Global Soup Kitchen. With each success it has, the company will continue to give back, and bring its mission of giving good food to everyone as plans is still waiting to happen for these people.

Failed Relationships

When relationships fail, we see our vulnerabilities. This engagement ring was supposed to be a declaration of love to a significant other. While we thought choosing an engagement ring is an easy task, it’s actually not. The prongs, the cut, and the grade might ring a bell to those who are preparing to propose. Up until the moment you thought that your significant other was the one, everything can be wiped out in an instant. This is one of the moments when engagements fail even if you have the ring already (in real life), just as when you thought this could only happen in movies and teleseryes. When suddenly all these preparations don’t come as planned, you would probably flashback to those times what could have gone wrong. You might even question your worth and your efforts, doubt your partner’s intentions and worse, your partner’s character.

With all the possibilities of hate and blame along the way trying to process the failure of the engagement, the only way to move on is to accept the reality that it has failed. Yes, a fragment of hope might have been seen, but when things don’t get patched up and it gets down the drain, the diamond loses its ability to glisten and so does the relationship.

Outside looking in, I admire people who has been determined to say it’s enough. In my opinion, most failed relationships is a 50-50 blame game. It doesn’t need to have a complicated Math, because both parties contributed to both the joy and pain there is no matter how short or long you’ve been together.

When you see your friends stood up from failed relationships, it is not only them who will be vulnerable. Even you as supporters will become skeptic and doubtful about relationships as well. I believe there are no perfect engagements and relationships, everything boils down to how we handle the sa-ppiest moments in our lives and how we nourish them to become better partners and individuals for others. And oh btw, don’t bother looking back at how much it has cost you to reach a point where you bought a ring, it won’t help.

Here’s to something that’s done and being vulnerable at the same time to new opportunities!

P.S. This is not an April Fool’s day post and I’m not engaged nor was supposed to be engaged. Maghunos dili kayo! #randomthoughts

Sunnies Studios is now available at SM City Naga

Finally! One of my favorite brands of sunglasses, Sunnies Studios is now in Naga City, readily available at SM City Naga! Before, I kept on saying that finally "Sunnies Studios is now in Bicol" because last summer Soleil in Ayala Malls Legazpi carried the brand and now it's finally here in Maogmang Lugar.

Sunnies Studios is not too expensive but neither too cheap. You'll get to choose from rugged to sassy designs and frames that would complement your face shape. Sunnies Studios regularly releases new designs and most often than not, it's always something to look forward to. I hope the branch here in Naga would also have the loyalty card soon.

Sunnies Studios fo rmen and women
And just like that, I and my sister bought another pair. These Sunnies are just so tempting! Indeed it's our go-to sunglasses store. How may Sunnies do I have now?

Review: D'Beauteebox.com Products from Japan that will complement the real #AsianBeauty

A clean skin is a source of self-confidence. When I started working, I became conscious of how I look. To look professional and neat is important in my line of work since I'm always in front of students. I did not wish to have a white skin, I love my color the way it is. All I needed is to maintain its cleanliness and free from blemishes for as long as I can. I'm already 32 and not getting any younger. When it comes to face and skin, we should never settle for anything less. It's not being sassy or being to choosy, but when you buy low priced cosmetics and skin products, you are obviously at risk. At risk of what? Of spending a few more thousands than you should especially if something goes wrong with your face as it gets irritated.  All you got to do is proper budgeting for your "abubot" right?

I see to it that I use the proper products that would complement my skin color. I'm may not be a an expert beauty blogger but as a lifestyle and travel blogger and like any other working girls, I am always on the lookout for good beauty products.

I normally use branded ones. Again it's not being choosy, I mean, we get what we pay for. I'm a fan of Revlon for lippies. Sometimes I get to realize that it is an American brand and do they really know if their products would complement Asian skin types, lips, faces etc? I believe they also do but how much of it does it enhance our beauty?

Asian brands for Asians. I recently tried Japanese products from www.dbeauteebox.com.ph and to be honest this is my first time to use Japan made beauty products.

D'Beauteebox.com is located along J. Miranda Avenue, fronting Bicol Science Centrum. They offer a line of Japanese skin, hair, eye, and body products which are readily available at their physical store or you can also purchase online through their website

Let's start with this White Label Premium Placenta BB Cream. There are a lot of BB creams in the market and I'm tried so many too. Again, the ones that costs cheaper is a no go for me as I always feel skin irritation. This BB Cream from D'Beauteebox.com works like magic. I hate BB creams which changes the entire color of your face but this BB cream really complements my skin color. It has 6-in-1 beauty balm which you cannot find in other BB creams out there.

I'll tell you a little secret, I usually do my ritual inside the car (parked outside my office). I like the natural light better when putting my makeup on haha. And yep, I have enough time before 8am.
WHITE LABEL Premium Placenta BB CREAM is a versatile 6-in-1 beauty balm with the following functions:

    foundation
    concealer
    makeup base
 sun protection (SPF 25 PA+++)
skin whitening (placenta extract)
moisturizer (collagen and hyaluronic acid)

It contains placenta extract serum which whitens and nourishes  the skin; SPF 25 for sun protection; hyaluronic acid and collagen  for skin moisturizing and elasticity. It covers up and treats blemishes and skin imperfections such as dark spots and freckles. It is waterproof and stays on your skin longer. Recommended for sensitive skin. Contains no additives such as artificial colorings, fragrances, mineral oils, and parabens.

AVAILABLE IN 2 SHADES: Natural Beige and Ochre.

 How to use:
Squeeze a pea-sized amount of WHITE LABEL® Premium Placenta BB Cream onto your fingertips and gently spread it to your entire face. To prevent smudges, spread the cream as thinly as possible. Layer the BB Cream on blemishes and under eye circles with a gentle tapping motion, and spread evenly. For extra coverage, you may apply another thin layer of BB Cream after it dries. Apply face powder if prefered. WHITE LABEL® Premium Placenta BB Cream is safe to use everyday, and can be easily cleaned off with a cleanser or makeup remover.

The BB cream really stays longer on your face, I don't even have to put powder on my face from time to time. Makes me focus on my work instead of doing some retouching again.

Next is the Beppin Body Magic White Essence Skin Whitening Body Lotion. It's not your usual body lotion that is greasy and too mushy. This lotion is near to liquid form which is easily absorbed by your skin. Let's wait for a few weeks and maybe just maybe, my complexion will be more fairer than ever. hihi

BEPPIN BODY Magic White Essence Skin Whitening Body Lotion is a luxurious, creamy, non-greasy, skin-whitening body lotion which quickly absorbs into your skin, giving you a more youthful, bright, glowing skin. It contains placenta extract to renew/regenerate your sun-damaged skin. The moisturizing agents, such as aloe vera and soy isoflavone, smoothen the rough skin after shaving. Enjoy its soft scent of rose. With no additives such as colorings, paraben and mineral oils, it is gentle on sensitive skin.

How to use:
After taking a bath or shower, place an appropriate amount of BEPPIN BODY Magic White Essence Body Lotion onto your palm, massage gently onto body, arms and legs. Apply  especially on sun-damaged, dry skin or rough areas  such as elbows and knees.

Next is the White Label Premium Placenta Facial Foam. I really love how it leaves your skin after the wash. To be honest this is the first time I have tried a facial foam that does have that strong and acidic feel on your skin. I use this every morning and at noon.

WHITE LABEL® Premium Placenta Facial Foam (P559) gently caresses skin with a silky foam that completely removes deep-seated dirt and excess oil without stripping the skin’s moisture. Pigment-causing melanin is trapped and removed with every wash to reveal clearer, more radiant and moisturized skin. It contains placenta extract for skin whitening and renewal. It has no additives such as fragrances, coloring, parabens, or mineral oils and can be safely used even on the most sensitive skin.

How to use:
Wet face with water. Put a small amount of WHITE LABEL® Premium Placenta Facial Foam onto your palm and rub to create lather. Use a foam net if preferred. Massage onto face and neck. Rinse thoroughly with water. For best results, wash at least twice a day and follow with WHITE LABEL® Premium Placenta Essence/Toner.

The last product is the White Label Premium Placenta Cleansing Gel which I absolutely adore! Before sleeping it's but important to remove your makeup ladies. This clear cleansing gel does the magic in removing all your makeup after a days work. Bare it all when you sleep, give your face a rest at night.
White Label Premium Placenta Cleansing Gel
Remove stubborn dirt and make up in no time!
Highly recommended for sensitive skin. Safe to use even on eyelash extensions. The gel contains beauty agents; placenta extract for skin brightening, hyaluronic acid for firmness and collagen (anti-aging). It removes skin's dirt and excess oil while keeping your skin soft as a baby's skin!

How to Use:
To remove make up, gently massage an appropriate amount of gel in circular motion to blend the gel with your makeup.Rinse off with cold or warm water.

They also have a lot of other products for your hair, eye and skin. For those who are looking for a good whitening regimen, this is the place to be. As we all know, when it's made in Japan, it's close to perfection. Bring back that baby skin!

Thank you D'Beauteebox.com for letting me experience this one of a kind product. It's true that you should never judge a product until you have tried them. I'm looking forward for good results after a month or so of using your amazing products! Will be updating you guys soon on how everything will turn out.

In the meantime, you can check out their website for other products and D'Beauteebox.com will be opening a stall at the third level of Robinsons Place Naga soon! So stay tuned for the opening so that you may check out the products for yourself and who knows there might be promos on the opening day. And oh, check out their store at J. Miranda, they sometimes have products on sale too!

Review: Chevrolet Sail 1.5L LTZ

Sedans are the easily recognizable cars long before there were SUVs, AUVs and many others. Nowadays, huge cars now fill the needs of families when it comes to space and durability. It's now a challenge for many automakers in making sedans as stylish as ever that will still fit the budget of an average-earning Filipino. Not everyone can afford SUVs and here in the Philippines there has been an explosion of sales when it comes to small sedans.

Pili has stepped up a notch when it comes to car showrooms here in Bicol. Chevrolet CamSur in Brgy. San Jose recently had their grand opening sharing to Bicol another American automaker after Ford in Del Rosario, Naga City.

Chevrolet recently launched a new subcompact sedan called the Sail and I got the chance to take the unit for a test drive. Now here are 5 details that I really like about this car that you might probably consider it as well. Remember, finding your perfect car is just like finding the close to perfect partner in a few years of togetherness. Hugot! Haha

First feat that I really appreciated is the rear view reverse camera. Most often than not, SUVs have the reverse camera for obvious reasons. So, the Sail having a reverse cam is definitely a plus for this sedan. All you need to do now is to focus on the 9-inch touch screen, android-powered infotainment system right in the middle of your dashboard.

The Sail may not have a fancy dashboard and exquisite cabin design, but everything you need is there and of course very functional. The top of the line LTZ variant has the standard USB port, center cup holder, steering wheel radio control and Bluetooth Handsfree.

Second would be the 9-inch touchscreen Android-powered Infotainment System with 16GB head unit and Mobile connect with Google Voice Search ready for your travels. For one year you'll get to experience built-in navigational system (Waze) on the unit and have the option to renew it after a year. And oh it also includes Spotify and Google Play Store already. Take note, it's not on your phone but it's on your unit. What's also more exciting is that it has a phone mirroring capability, so even if your are using an iPhone, yes, it can also mirror  what's on your phone, amazing right?! Just don't forget that we are not allowed to use the device when you're on the road because ADDA is in effect.

Dashcam not included :P
If you are the person who plainly listens to music (or news) without having too much consideration about the quality, then the Sail is for you. The LTZ variant has 4 speakers same with the 1.5L AT LT and only 2 speakers for the 1.3L MT LT.

Reverse Sensors and Rear Camera (Just right above the first 3 in the temp. plate)
Chevy's are known for space and we mean tons of space.
Third feat would be the ample head and legroom both in the front and at the back for your passengers.

Just look at the trunk space! Placed my 10L daysack
and umbrella (fully extended) for visualization.

Fourth feat would be the inbuilt sunroof with slide and tilt function. I'm a self-confessed fan of sunroofs! You can tilt it to disperse hot air within the cabin or slide to let fresh air and light in. Perfect for your countryside road trips. Plus, it's a better angle when taking pictures or videos instead of doing it on your windows.

Most of the time, sedans are used for daily transport so it's also important what's under the hood. Engine-wise the 1.5L AT LTZ has responsive transmission with Active Select manual mode for the times requiring complete driver control. From the DOE fuel economy rating, the Sail got an average of 18.26 km / liter for highway driving. Again, fuel consumption depends on the driving habits.

Fifth, she's got the looks! The orange paint job and the contrasting gunmental alloy on the wheels has definitely made the Sail look sporty and curvaceous at the same time. There are no fancy accessories like bumpers, or bulging fenders, nor huge grilles, but the body lines are very stylish. It also has a good looking front with sporty headlamps and foglights which are becoming a norm for all types of car nowadays.

To be honest there's quite a noticeably body roll when driving over a bend or a corner, but hey it's a sedan so we really shouldn't expect much for it to be sporty. I'm used to a light steering wheel. A simple maneuvering back and forth actually felt a bit of a heavy drag when I was trying to park the Sail in front of the building. Perhaps I'm just not used to it.

Took the Sail for quite a speed run over the Partido area, overall I noticed that steering becomes lighter as you pick up speed. Highway running is stable even when confronted with strong winds which will make you feel like your car is floating even in rugged roads.

Black versions or black editions are now becoming an option for buyers. Gone are days for the usual stock in gray or simple silver wheels or accents. Almost every automaker is releasing their black editions or versions.

What's nice are the safety features which are included in all the 3 variants. It includes 2 airbags in front with ABS (Anti-locking braking system) and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution). The Sail also has a speed sensitive door locks which means that if you forgot to lock your doors and when you pick up speed, it will automatically lock itself. There is an anti-theft alarm system, child lock, child restraint and seatbelt reminder too.

Aggressive 16-inch gunmental alloy wheels shod with high performance, low-profile tires for quick road reflexes.
So there, is the Chevrolet Sail for you? Book a test drive now! You have to get to know the car really well and to taking it on a test drive is a must! Visit Chevrolet CamSur at KM 449 National Highway, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

What car do you want to see next? The Colorado, The Spark? or The Trailblazer? I'm drooling over the SUVs and I can't help but imagine taking it for a long drive especially this coming long weekend. Until our next review!!!

Lakbay Filipinas, For Your Travel Buddies

Naga City - Holidays are here! Gift suggestions may not just be enough when we try to figure out what to get for the special people around us. One of the basic questions we ask is "What does he/she like?" Perhaps if we know the person too well, getting something useful for them is always the best option. Havaianas recently launched Filipinas 2015 with a new collection. Havaianas continues to celebrate fun, fashion, and creativity as the brand collaborates with three young Filipino artists: Abbey Sy, Alessandra Lanot, and Patrick Cabral. The three designs (Lakbay by Abbey Sy, Laro by Patrick Cabral, and Lasap by Alessandra Lanot) perfectly capture the fun of Philippine travel, food, and childhood games.

NCD is a lifestyle, food, travel blog and everything in between. Having the "Lakbay" pair made me realize that printed photographs are still the best when it comes to retrieving our travel memoirs. While we leave footprints in the places we visit and take nothing but pictures, that precious moment how and where we took them will always linger in our memories. Printed photographs are easier to retrieve and will not need any device to view it. Sure we spend a little extra for developing our shots, but one day, we will surely appreciate that we did have them printed.

Photo enthusiasts and professionals takes a big deal out of storage devices. Like a decent flash drive is not enough but external hard drives is a must. I regret that I am failing the aspect of having my photos printed and relying too much on the digital advantage. But I guess it's never too late, I hope I can find another time and sit down and extract my photos from my storage devices and have the special ones printed. On the photo are some of the photos that I took way back 2010. That was the last time I did it. Gosh that's too long a time already. Traveling does not stop and photos are now in bulk so let's take time to print them once in a while.

So if you have travel buddies, getting them this pair will surely boost up their lust for traveling. Like Havaianas, they also remind us to never stop exploring what our country has to offer. Like what I usually say, exploring your own city, province and region is endless.

Bring back the good ol' days with your best friends! This year's Filipinas collection will have the barkada remembering the games, food, and endless summers of childhood. Each pair comes in a drawstring knapsack too. Limited edition pairs are only P1,195 at any All Flip-Flops stores or at any select Havaianas retailers nationwide.

Sa wakas! My kimono na ako! This is from Phi n Piks Boutique

Since I have a no sleeveless policy at work, this Kimono will surely be very helpful. It's not that I can't wear sleeveless, but I have to practice what I preach since I am in the academe. Seems like I am really getting old and the conservative side of me keeps kicking in.
Apologies for not making it to the grand opening, got caught up with work. Since, I visited the shop on a Monday, I thought I would be able to take photos with less people. I was wrong, it was so fun to see many customers coming in empty handed and going out with a blue bag.

Style Hub Boutique team sees to it there are fresh stocks. So you just have to keep coming back for new items. If you have a specific style in mind don't hesitate to message the owners on their accounts and I'm sure they will be able to accommodate your queries. Style your days with Style Hub Boutique.

Thank you and more power to Style Hub Boutique Team especially to Ms. Angela.
