Nissan Navara, Nissan Livina Specs and the Nissan Intelligent Mobility Tour Naga

Nissan Philippines Inc. brings to Bicol the Nissan Intelligent Mobility Tour #NIMTour from February 3 to 5, 2023 at SM City Naga with a one of a kind venue to share to Bicolanos that Nissan is more than just the air-conditioning. Nissan has set up interactive monitors for us to fully understand and imagine what the Nissan Intelligent Mobility features are all about.

The #NIMtour was also an opportunity for us to test drive not just one but three Nissan units and share to you our experience here just in case you were not able to visit the 3-day activity. There's a whole fleet of Nissan available at the tour such as from the executive and mighty Nissan Patrol, Nissan Terra, Nissan Almera, Nissan Navarra Pro-4X, Navara Calibre-X and the all new Nissan Kicks E-Power

More photos of the event HERE

Test Drive available: Nissan Patrol, Nissan Navara, Nissan Livina, Nissan Terra, Nissan Kicks E-Power

First off with Nissan's ultimate pickup truck but with a ride full of comfort and safety features. If your journey always calls for adventure at any kind of terrain the PRO-4X (4X4) best fits for you. It's fully boxed and fully capable, ride with confidence and take charge with full strength in any road conditions because you get All Terrain Tires or this unit.

NAVARA PRO-4X (4X4)

2.5 L Turbo Diesel Engine

Multi-Link Rear Suspension with Dual Rate Coil Spring (this provides a smoother ride even in severe conditions, provides more comfortable ride even for those seated at the back)

190HP Max Power, 450NM Max Torque

All Terrain Tires

1 Ton Payload Capacity*

NISSAN INITELLIGENT MOBILITY FEATURES*

Intelligent 360 Round View Monitor with Off-Road Monitor

Forward Collision Warning with Intelligent Emergency Braking

Blind Spot Warning

Lane Departure Warning

Zero Gravity Front Seats

Apple Carplay / Android Auto

Interior Design

Enjoy premium comfort with black leather and orange accent stitching.

NAVARA CALIBRE-X (4X2)

Aggressive Grille

Quad LED Projector Headlights with DRL

LED Tail Lamps

17" Gloss Black Alloy Wheels

With 5-Year Warranty or 150,000KM which ever comes first

The Nissan Calibre-X on other hand has the same exact features except that it’s only 4X2, but same Nissan Intelligent Mobility is in your pickup which can also carry 1 TON payload capacity for your business or family needs. The Zero Gravity leather front seats is definitely a game changer and yes both for the PRO-4X and Calibre-X. The price differences of these two units is just because of the 4X2 and 4X4 capability of the units. Up to you guys!

Now let's go to the latest addition to the Nissan fleet which is the 7-Seater Nissan Livina which is very ideal for families. If you are a car enthusiast you'll automatically notice Livina's resemblance to that of the Mitsubishi Xpander. Well, it's a public knowledge that Nissan now owns 34% of Mitsubishi, so it does make sense that they share the same blood by this time. As I have mentioned that we are really looking into considering a 7-Seater Car for our family for quite a few months now. From among the available units in the market in this segment, it was the Xpander that has grown so much into me because I have driven and used it also for quite some time. I have also driven once a Toyota Rush just to get a feels of it and an old Avanza just for reference of which is also a big competitor. I have also seen the new Honda BR-V but no test drive experience yet.

With that said, it's between the Xpander and the Livina VL. Everything is almost the same for these two, and I will say it in Bicol, nakalamang na gayo si Livina VL variant sa 5-year Warranty or 150,000KM (which ever comes first) because Mitsubishi only has a 3-year warranty or 100,000km. Plus PMS of Nissan is only TWICE A YEAR or every 10,000km. That's the better advantage of Nissan this time. Just to add despite this advantage, I just wished that the top of the line variant of Livina has an available roof rail already. Luggages in our roof rack is a feat that comes in handy especially for our family who do a lot of long drives as we want a comfortable seat inside the cabin.

Livina is a reliable partner for any of your activities.

Ideal for families

Multiple Storage Spaces (plus an under-seat shoe tray)

Large Cargo Space

Fordable Rear seats with multiple charging ports

Exceptionally cool air-conditioning

Entertainment on-the-go 7" touchscreen display audio with phone link and Bluetooth connectivity

Vehicle Dynamic Control

Hill Start Assist

Traction Control

ISO-Fix System

SRS Airbags

Anti-lock Brake System

Parking Sensors

Rear View Camera

Under-seat Shoe Tray

Just in case you missed the Nissan Intelligent Mobility Tour just visit the showroom

Nissan CamSur

Maharlika Highway, San Agustin Pili, Camarines Sur

I'll be doing a separate post about the Nissan Kicks-Epower but as a quick description as to how does this unit work? This vehicle is 100% electric motor-driven but gas-charged, so you don't plug it in get power from the grid. The e-POWER system offers full electric motor drive, meaning that the wheels are completely driven by the electric motor. e-POWER is comprised of a high-output battery and the powertrain which is integrated with gasoline engine, power generator, inverter and a motor.

This car may not be solar-powered but I can relate so much into it because we live in a solar-powered home where there is an inverter and a battery. So the Nissan Kicks really got me so interested to learn more about it.

beep™ expands in Bicol Region with new transport coop partners

beep™ operator AF Payments Inc. brings the efficiency of its automated fare collection system (AFCS) to commuters in the Bicol region. In partnership with the Barcelona Gubat Sorsogon Transport Cooperative and Prieto Diaz-Gubat-Sorsogon City Transport Service Cooperative, a new era of safe and convenient inter-city travels dawns, along with the rollout of modern jeepneys under the government’s PUV Modernization Program.

Locals, and even tourists, traveling between Gubat and Sorsogon City have begun to enjoy the convenience of cashless and contactless fare payments. An AFCS device is installed in each PUV in the fleet (also possible to install in the transport terminal), and passengers simply tap in and out to pay their fare. Currently, the beep™ card can be bought online on Shopee, Lazada, and Facebook Marketplace while stocks last, and reloaded from the partner transport operators, digital banking and e-wallet partners, and via the beep mobile app.

On the other hand, transport operators experience a modern system that offers not only more efficient payment collection, recording, and remittance but also combats the ills of the manual one, which may include human error and pilferage.

“AF Payments is one with the government and private sector alike in making the transportation system in the Philippines better and more responsive to the needs of the riding public. We offer a robust cashless payment solution that can easily be tailored to the particular requirements of the localities we engage with and bundled with our other PUV modernization-related solutions,” said Sharon Fong, Chief Commercial Officer of AF Payments Inc.

The company has partnered with transport cooperatives all over Metro Manila and in key provinces nationwide. In the Bicol Region, it has previously collaborated with the Bulusan Transport Service Cooperative and Gubat Transport Service Cooperative. This month, the Bulan Transport Cooperative is also gearing up to roll out AFCS in its own fleet.

For the transport sector, beep™ offers a full ecosystem of related business solutions. Apart from the AFCS, this includes a Fleet Management System, QR Ticketing / QR Payment System, Barrier and Gate Solutions, Central Ticketing Solutions, and Queue Management System, all designed to help transport operators manage their daily operations and passenger flow more efficiently. These may also be bundled as packaged services to make it more economical and convenient for the client.

In addition, beep™ helps its partner transport operators make commuting a rewarding experience for the latter’s own customers. This is done through itsloyalty program that allows users to earn points for every spend (PHP1 spent = 1 point). They only have to register their card in the beep™ app and then convert their points to freebies or load that can be used as payment in all transportation and retail partners within the entire beep™ network. The app also empowers users to check their balance, monitor their spending, and even reload their card (for NFC-enabled smartphones).

AF Payments Inc. is the consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and Ayala Corp. that introduced the stored value beep™ card currently in use in the elevated trains (LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3), select buses and PUVs nationwide, and in partner retail merchants.

Interested cooperatives and transport operators may get in touch via <beep.com.ph/beep-business>. AF Payments Inc. is also tapping into businesses that can provide reloading and card distribution services in the Bicol region to support its aggressive expansion and be able to better serve Filipino consumers.

More information is available at the website <beep.com.ph> and its official FacebookTwitter, and Instagram accounts.

Review: Mitsubishi Xpander GLS

The Manual variant on display at the showroom

#NCDdailydrives MPVs are starting to dominate roads nowadays as people realize its versatility and use if we are going to talk about a family car. Seats 7 people with a lot of legroom and functionality especially on the top 2 variants.

Together with Bicol Deck, I got my hands on the GLS variant of the much hyped Mitsubishi Xpander for a quick spin and boy this is better than the first MPV that I have driven from another Japanese brand. Much to be noted in terms of its lightness on the wheel, handling and other extra features while the other car only features the basics.

Actual GLS Variant

With GPS installed
Less blind spot because of this window after the side mirror

For me, the looks has a busy front with boxy headlights (which I least like), then suddenly Mitsubishi lifted its front to the new Strada. At night whenever I see it on the road, I always imagine it as a complete face with brows, lids, full boxy eyes and the fog lamps as the chin. 🤪 It has an L-shaped taillights which I find sleek and decent. It might look as if there’s not enough space from the outside but there’s a lot of room in it both for leg and head space. Access to the third row is impressively easy as the second row seats has a folding and sliding feat. The design is something that will eventually grow on you and what is important is the performance of the car.

Under the hood it has a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. The GLS operates on a four-speed automatic. We don’t need a 5 or 6-speed transmission if we are talking about a family MPV right? So the 4-speed will do just fine. The top of the line, GLS Sport has a push button engine start-stop, dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and vehicle stability control.

The reverse cam is becoming a basic now, GPS on the 7-inch touchscreen display are just few of the other features that makes the Xpander a wonder.

You might want to consider this car as your next family MPV. For inquiries you can contact Ms. Aya Onaka at 09088180494 and 09175153811 or visit her FB Page at Mitsubishi Pili/ Albay BEST PROMO DEALS by Aya Onaka

Review: Chevrolet Sail 1.5L LTZ

Sedans are the easily recognizable cars long before there were SUVs, AUVs and many others. Nowadays, huge cars now fill the needs of families when it comes to space and durability. It's now a challenge for many automakers in making sedans as stylish as ever that will still fit the budget of an average-earning Filipino. Not everyone can afford SUVs and here in the Philippines there has been an explosion of sales when it comes to small sedans.

Pili has stepped up a notch when it comes to car showrooms here in Bicol. Chevrolet CamSur in Brgy. San Jose recently had their grand opening sharing to Bicol another American automaker after Ford in Del Rosario, Naga City.

Chevrolet recently launched a new subcompact sedan called the Sail and I got the chance to take the unit for a test drive. Now here are 5 details that I really like about this car that you might probably consider it as well. Remember, finding your perfect car is just like finding the close to perfect partner in a few years of togetherness. Hugot! Haha

First feat that I really appreciated is the rear view reverse camera. Most often than not, SUVs have the reverse camera for obvious reasons. So, the Sail having a reverse cam is definitely a plus for this sedan. All you need to do now is to focus on the 9-inch touch screen, android-powered infotainment system right in the middle of your dashboard.

The Sail may not have a fancy dashboard and exquisite cabin design, but everything you need is there and of course very functional. The top of the line LTZ variant has the standard USB port, center cup holder, steering wheel radio control and Bluetooth Handsfree.

Second would be the 9-inch touchscreen Android-powered Infotainment System with 16GB head unit and Mobile connect with Google Voice Search ready for your travels. For one year you'll get to experience built-in navigational system (Waze) on the unit and have the option to renew it after a year. And oh it also includes Spotify and Google Play Store already. Take note, it's not on your phone but it's on your unit. What's also more exciting is that it has a phone mirroring capability, so even if your are using an iPhone, yes, it can also mirror  what's on your phone, amazing right?! Just don't forget that we are not allowed to use the device when you're on the road because ADDA is in effect.

Dashcam not included :P
If you are the person who plainly listens to music (or news) without having too much consideration about the quality, then the Sail is for you. The LTZ variant has 4 speakers same with the 1.5L AT LT and only 2 speakers for the 1.3L MT LT.

Reverse Sensors and Rear Camera (Just right above the first 3 in the temp. plate)
Chevy's are known for space and we mean tons of space.
Third feat would be the ample head and legroom both in the front and at the back for your passengers.

Just look at the trunk space! Placed my 10L daysack
and umbrella (fully extended) for visualization.

Fourth feat would be the inbuilt sunroof with slide and tilt function. I'm a self-confessed fan of sunroofs! You can tilt it to disperse hot air within the cabin or slide to let fresh air and light in. Perfect for your countryside road trips. Plus, it's a better angle when taking pictures or videos instead of doing it on your windows.

Most of the time, sedans are used for daily transport so it's also important what's under the hood. Engine-wise the 1.5L AT LTZ has responsive transmission with Active Select manual mode for the times requiring complete driver control. From the DOE fuel economy rating, the Sail got an average of 18.26 km / liter for highway driving. Again, fuel consumption depends on the driving habits.

Fifth, she's got the looks! The orange paint job and the contrasting gunmental alloy on the wheels has definitely made the Sail look sporty and curvaceous at the same time. There are no fancy accessories like bumpers, or bulging fenders, nor huge grilles, but the body lines are very stylish. It also has a good looking front with sporty headlamps and foglights which are becoming a norm for all types of car nowadays.

To be honest there's quite a noticeably body roll when driving over a bend or a corner, but hey it's a sedan so we really shouldn't expect much for it to be sporty. I'm used to a light steering wheel. A simple maneuvering back and forth actually felt a bit of a heavy drag when I was trying to park the Sail in front of the building. Perhaps I'm just not used to it.

Took the Sail for quite a speed run over the Partido area, overall I noticed that steering becomes lighter as you pick up speed. Highway running is stable even when confronted with strong winds which will make you feel like your car is floating even in rugged roads.

Black versions or black editions are now becoming an option for buyers. Gone are days for the usual stock in gray or simple silver wheels or accents. Almost every automaker is releasing their black editions or versions.

What's nice are the safety features which are included in all the 3 variants. It includes 2 airbags in front with ABS (Anti-locking braking system) and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution). The Sail also has a speed sensitive door locks which means that if you forgot to lock your doors and when you pick up speed, it will automatically lock itself. There is an anti-theft alarm system, child lock, child restraint and seatbelt reminder too.

Aggressive 16-inch gunmental alloy wheels shod with high performance, low-profile tires for quick road reflexes.
So there, is the Chevrolet Sail for you? Book a test drive now! You have to get to know the car really well and to taking it on a test drive is a must! Visit Chevrolet CamSur at KM 449 National Highway, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

What car do you want to see next? The Colorado, The Spark? or The Trailblazer? I'm drooling over the SUVs and I can't help but imagine taking it for a long drive especially this coming long weekend. Until our next review!!!
