40th Death Day of Sec. Jesse Robredo

Quarenta Dias kang kagadanan ni Sec. Jesse Robredo

Sequence of Activities

On this page you will see updates of the 40th Death Day of Sec. JMR

Every time I see images of Sec. Jesse around the city, there is still a tingling pain in my heart that I still cannot believe that he will not ever come back physically here in Naga. JMR is just but one man who changed a City (Naga) for the better, he is just but one man who tried to change the whole country when he was Secretary of DILG. This man's footsteps, JMR's "tsinelassteps", lead us to the path towards positive change in the government that it was not just a mere dream, but a spark of hope and reality.

Ang kanyang tsinelas
Ang saksi sana
Nang kanyang tinahak
Ang daang malubak
Sa rupok ng suelas
Siya'y nagpakatatag
At naging huwaran
Lingkod na matapat

Ang kanyang tsinelas
Kasamang sumukad
Sa taong mayaman
Maging sa mahirap
Sa mahabang lakad
Tinawalang nangarap
Na tayo'y kabayan
Sa buhay na payak

Dios Mabalos manoy maraming salamat
Pilit mong tinuwid liko naming landas
'Di kayang burahin ni alat ng dagat
Tsinelas mong babad sa mabuting palad

Ang di pa matuto
Sa aral mong lantad
Tsinelasin mo po konsensiyang matigas

Ang kanyang tsinelas
Naabot mo sa gasgas
Na walang sinayang
Sa patak ng oras
Hakbang na kaya
Sa mata ng bukas
Kinayang umakyat
At Dios ang may basbas

Ang kanyang tsinelas
Tuluyang nabutas
Tulad ng buhay niyang maagang nagwakas
Kapwa tao naway magising mamulat
Dakila niyang yapak
Sundan bawat apak

Dios mabalos manoy maraming salamat
Pilit mong tinuwid liko naming landas
Di kayang burahin ni alat ng dagat
Tsinelas mong babad sa mabuting palad

Ang di pa matuto
Sa aral mong lantad
Tsinelasin mo po
Konsensiyang matigas

Dios Mabalos manoy maraming salamat
Dios Mabalos manoy saimong maorag
Dios Mabalos manoy maraming salamat
Dios Mabalos manoy sa dalan mong maorag

Cruz: Jueteng protectors out to oust Robredo

Source (Catholic Bishops' Conference Philippines Website)

MANILA, Sept. 7, 2010—An anti-gambling prelate claims jueteng protectors has joined the maneuver to oust Department of Interior and Local Government secretary Jesse Robredo.
Retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz said jueteng protectors who are holding key positions in the government are leading the calls for the DILG chief’s resignation.
Speaking at the weekly Church-organized forum, Cruz said these officials are using the August 23 hostage crisis to pursue their ultimate motive.
“Robredo is known as an anti-jueteng advocate. If Robredo will be replaced, then it’s a victory for jueteng,” Cruz said.
The known anti-jueteng crusader said he is certain jueteng plays a major role in the mounting clamor that Robredo be ousted from the administration.
“Isa sa mga kamag-anak niya (President Aquino) ang nagsabi na gusto niya i-legalize ang jueteng. That is not a secret,” he said.
Aquino’s uncle, Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, had already said that he is in favor of having jueteng legalized as some of his constituents when he was still the Tarlac congressman had been complaining about the lack of a pastime.
Cojuangco is one of the relatives of Aquino accused of meddling in state affairs as part of the “Kamag-anak Inc.”, which existed during the term of the late President Corazon Aquino.
Asked whether he believes that Aquino is already being asked secretly to oust Robredo, Cruz gave an affirmative answer.
“Palagay ko matagal na. Nahirapan nga siya ilagay si Robredo diyan e. He was one of the latest appointed. May problema pala kasi,” said Cruz.
Archbishop Cruz also exclaimed the continued jueteng operations in the country, adding that the illegal numbers game had already transformed into a “political monster”.
He said jueteng has already grown into a strong political force under the control of governors, mayors and even barangay captains.
“Jueteng now has become a political monster. Formerly it was just unethical activity or illegal… it has acquired a new dimension. Metamorphosis for the worse of the social picture of the country,” he said. (CBCPNews)
